OILY WATER SEPARATOR - COALESCING PLATE (CPS) (1000L/hr)

The Q water QKleer series of oily water separator systems - coalescing plate type are designed to treat contaminated oily waste water streams typically generated from:
• Wash-Down of Vehicles – Large & Small
• Machinery in Manufacturing & Fabrication
• Washing Equipment at Industrial & Mining Sites.
• Mechanical Vehicles Repair Shop

• Garage Forecourts & Driveway

Q water’s oil water treatment systems are ideal to treat the waste-water stream to a very low level (mg/L) (ppm) that it is suitable for discharge to most domestic sewer systems, ground seepage, leach drain, soak-well or a plastic lined evaporative pond.

An oily water separator system - coalescing plate type uses coalescing plates to collect small droplets of free suspended oil droplets in water is sometimes also known as a CPS (coalescing plate separator).
These simple and efficient CPS units can be either large concrete in-ground systems for very large flows, or more commonly they are smaller self-supporting package systems above ground that are assembled and installed close to the oily water sump for processing the waste water stream of smaller more manageable flows.

Coalescing Plate Separators (CPS) enhance gravity (reference is to "Stokes Law") to separate free suspended oil and light solids from the waste water stream, but are unable to separate chemical emulsions brought about by the usage of detergents, degreaser, engine coolants or other types of chemicals.

If chemicals are to be used in conjunction with a Coalescing Plate Separator on a vehicle wash-bay, they should only be small quantities of proven 'quick-break' types which allow the chemical emulsions to break up quickly (within 10 minutes) and release the free oil droplets back into the collected waste water stream for efficient processing.

Each design by Q water of its QKleer oily water coalescing plate separator system supplied form its standard processing range, has been designed to achieve the best minimum effluent water quality (usually ~<10ppm output is achieveable). Other low residual concentration levels of hydrocarbons in the treated water stream can be computer calculated and achieved given the known input of hydrocarbon concentration levels to be treated. Discuss with us your specific requirements.

The water quality output is expressed as milligrams per litre (mg/L) or parts per million (ppm) and is calculated based not only on the treated water flow rate, but on a range of other influent (inputs) parameters such as water temperature, oil specific gravity and the concentration of oil in the influent water stream.

All Q water Coalescing Plate Separator waste-water treatment systems use the acclaimed and most efficient oleophilic collection plates of its type; these are manufactured and supplied by either FACET® or VELCON® and due to the high surface collection area and materials of construction, they are super-efficient at processing and reducing the oil concentration levels in the waste water stream; these collection plates will also handle and remove some fine suspended solids. Coarser solids and accumulated floating waste materials should be settled and screened prior to processing
